Mozart was crazy.
Flat fucking crazy.
Bat shit, I hear.

But his music's not crazy,
It's balanced, it's nimble,
It's crystalline clear.

There's harmony, logic,
You listen to these.
You don't hear his doubts,
Or his debts or disease.

You scan through the score,
And put fingers on keys,
And you play.
And everything else goes away.

Natalie sat at the piano in her contemporary music classroom, playing Mozart's "Invention in C" for what had to be the thousandth time. She was preparing for her Winter recital. There would be scouts from music schools all over the country, offering early admittance to the best students. Natalie wanted that chance. That chance to get away.

Danny smiled as he listened to his friend play, she was amazing.

Natalie kept her eyes glued to the score, getting closer to the measure she always seemed to screw up on.

Danny crossed his fingers as she got closer to the part.

Natalie played, stumbling over the notes and slamming her hands down on the keys. "Fuck!"

"I'm very far from perfect on a very difficult piece," Natalie replied

"I have to nail this," said Natalie. "I need that scholarship, the early admit, I need out of here."

"Maybe then I'll finally be out of precious Gabriel's shadow," said Natalie.

Natalie sighed, hugging him back. "Superboy and the invisible girl..."
